State of the Art ‘13

Artworks from Studio Art Quilt Associates and Front Range Contemporary Quilters
The tradition of Quilting goes back to ancient times and today is widely accepted as an Art Form as well as a functional technique.

"State of the Art 2013" offers the viewer an opportunity to see where fiber artists from the front range have traveled on their creative journey.

While the size and style of each work differs, these artists share the common thread of fiber.

Stop by the Susan K. Arndt Gallery and join them in the journey.

Integrated Math 156 is Learning the Art of Math

Mr. Dinwiddie, from RRCC's Integrated Math 156, gave his class the challenge of developing their own tessellation works of art. His students were able to integrate their math skills with their creative abilities by creating tessellations. A tesellation is a shape that is repeated over and over again, covering a plane without any gaps or overlaps. M.C. Escher was a well-known artist who used this style of tessellation to create famous works of art. Isn't it amazing how we can find the Arts in everything?

Mission Statement

We are committed to discovering how the Arts are integrated into everything and bringing an understanding and awareness of the arts to ourselves and our community.

Vision

The ArtSmart Planning Group is a collaborative effort by staff, faculty and students to discover the arts in everything. The challenge to discover the arts in every department and division of RRCC was given, along with a generous $10,000 donation, by Terry Stevinson. The first to accept the challenge was RRCC President, Michelle Haney, who matched the contribution creating a $20,000 grant. Our student-driven program, with the guidance of staff and faculty, has been entrusted with this challenge. Through promotion of current arts and future events we seek to not just discover the arts in everything but to identify why it is important.
Over the course of the school year, The ArtSmart Planning Group will be accomplishing this through a variety of interdisciplinary projects, activities, media and information aimed at exposing the arts we find and create in our community.
