RRCC Presents Gudy Gaskill: Stories from the Silk Road and Beyond
Lakewood, CO – Denver artist Gudy Gaskill will be sharing the stories of her travels and adventures on Thursday, November 14, from 3 to 5 pm at the Red Rocks Community College Library, Lakewood Campus. During her travels and hiking she has always carried her watercolor supplies and painted plein air paintings creating with each painting a story of a time, place and a moment that has been captured.
“I don't paint to please other people - I paint what I consider a special moment in time, with the thought that the beauty of the moment can last an eternity, said Gaskill about her work. “In painting, one learns to really look at nature, shadows, warmth and coolness. This exhibit is a once in a lifetime chance to show my friends just what my inner feelings and love is...the great outdoors around the world. The world could be such a better place if we all took a few minutes each day to see the beauty that is everywhere.”
Gaskill has spearheaded the effort to build the 500-mile Colorado Trail; one of the top Colorado attractions. She has been inducted into the Colorado women’s hall of fame, has climbed all of the Colorado 14ers and numerous other peaks, has led trips, traveled, and hiked all over the world.
Gudy has been a student at Red Rocks Community College for many years in the ceramics department. She is currently having an exhibit in the library of her ceramics as well as her watercolor paintings. Please join Gudy for tea and cookies and for an opportunity to hear her stories. Her artwork will be on exhibit in the library until December 13.
