Welcome to RRCC Counseling (Mental Health) Services
Short-term counseling is offered at no cost to all students enrolled at Red Rocks Community College. Services are available at both campuses and are provided by a licensed therapist.
Services
At Counseling Services, we can help you address concerns in the following areas:
- Stress management
- Relationship issues
- Depression
- Grief and loss
- Adjustment difficulties
The Process
The process will look like this:
- Initial appointment
- Decide if short-term individual therapy or a referral to another agency is the most appropriate for you
- Schedule future appointments, if you choose
Intake Interview
The purpose of your first appointment will primarily be to gather information
about your current concerns. You will be asked to complete a brief form, which
will take about 10 minutes, and then participate in the intake interview, which
will last approximately 45 minutes. During this time, you are encouraged
to express your feelings honestly and ask any questions you may have. After the interview is complete, you and your counselor will decide if
Counseling Services are appropriate for you, or if your needs will be better
served by another agency.
Individual Brief Therapy
If you and your counselor decide that significant progress can be made toward
accomplishing your therapeutic goals in 4-6 sessions, you will both set up your
next appointment at the end of the intake interview. During future
sessions, you and your counselor will discuss your issues and goals, and will
evaluate your progress and the effectiveness of treatment in order to make sure
that your needs are being effectively met. In some cases, you may be
referred to counseling services in the community that are available on a
sliding fee scale.
Canceling Appointments
If you need to cancel a scheduled appointment, please do so at least 24
hours before your scheduled appointment whenever possible by calling
