Mission, Vision and Purpose

Vision
To promote unconditional acceptance of human worth and to build an inclusive community.

Mission
We will create a community that values and respects our similarities and differences.

What is Diversity?
Diversity encompasses all the ways in which we are unique.

What is Equity?
Equity is a just environment free of bias.

How is equity built on campus?
Equity is built by meeting people where they are and connecting them with the resources they need.

Purpose

  • Establish a welcoming environment that supports, acknowledges and values our diversity.

  • Establish an environment committed to equity.

  • Foster networking and cooperation among local groups.

  • Facilitate ongoing educational and social activities that promote diversity and equity.
               

2008 – 2009 Goals and Objectives

Goal 1.  The Diversity Council will provide opportunities to build college and community relations by facilitating events where people can come together and learn more about one another.

Objectives:

  • Promote awareness and gain diverse participation on the Council.

  • Partner with our community, Student Life/Voice, Faculty Senate, Classified Council, the Admin ProTech Council, and Collaboration Council for speakers and events

  • Display educational and/or cultural items on campus.

  • Host a conference on diversity in education

Goal 2.  Develop a strategic plan for diversity and equity on campus.

Objectives:

  • Review current plan.

  • Revise to reflect current philosophies.

  • Present to Executive Staff
