Jane Banzhaf is a Program Assistant in Instructional Services, working
directly under Instructional Dean Lori Burns. Areas supervised by Dean
Burns include Emergency and Public Safety, Health Careers, Outdoor
Recreation/Leadership, Physician's Assistant, Medical Imaging, the
Fitness Center, and the Arvada Red Rocks Campus. Jane finds working with
these diverse programs, located at both the Lakewood and Arvada campuses,
exciting and rewarding. Jane has found great satisfaction in being part
of a team that provides topnotch education and student support, enabling
graduates to gain entry to some very competitive careers.
Jane holds an Associate of Applied Science degree in Business Technology
from Red Rocks Community College, Lakewood, Colorado. Her career with Red
Rocks began 1994 as administrative assistant to the Red Rocks Law
Enforcement Academy.Over the years job duties expanded to include all
programs in the newly formed Emergency and Public Safety Department.In
February 2006, Jane began her current position as assistant to Dean
Burns.
When not working at Red Rocks, Jane makes time to sing with the Wheat
Ridge Community Chorale, play the piano, garden, sew, paint (watercolor),
participate in women's Bible studies and church ministries, and enjoy her
three children and seven grandchildren |

Lynn is the Administrative Assistant for the Emergency and Public
Safety Department and the Health Careers Department. She has an Associate
Degree in Business with a major in Office Systems Technology from
Horry-Georgetown Technical College in Conway, South Carolina.
Lynn moved to Colorado in May of 2001 and began working with Red Rocks
Community College in November of 2001. She has worked with various
departments at the college including Admissions, Computer Technology and
Computer Services. She enjoys working with the faculty, staff and
students at Red Rocks Community College and enjoys watching people
succeed at their dreams. |

Bob Brown

As a full time member of the Red Rocks faculty, Bob has much to offer
students. Bob recently retired after 32 years with West Metro Fire Rescue
in Lakewood and unincorporated Jefferson County, Colorado. Bob served
within all the ranks of the fire district including firefighter,
engineer, lieutenant, captain, assistant chief, and deputy chief.
Bob served as West Metro's Chief of Department from 1999 to 2004.
Bob holds a BA degree in Organizational Development from Regis
University and a Public Administration Certificate from the University of
Colorado-Denver. Bob has also completed and holds the Executive Fire
Officer designation from the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, MD.
Mr. Brown is a certified instructor in Incident Command. He has been
court qualified as a fire origin and cause expert and is a certified
instructor through the National Fire Academy. Bob also has experience in
hazardous materials response, having directed the Bancroft Fire
Protection District's HazMat team and as a Board Member and Operations
Director for the Jefferson County Hazardous Substance Response Team.

Steven Brown

Steve was recently hired as the Coordinator of the Emergency Medical
Services department. He has worked in the field of emergency medicine
since 1982, and became a Paramedic in 1989. His experience is with fire
departments and private ambulances in both urban and rural
settings.
Steve is passionate about Emergency Medical Service, and loves to share
his passion with students. He left the streets to teach full time in
1997, but still finds time to run calls as a volunteer Paramedic for
North Fork Fire Department in Buffalo Creek, Colorado.

Lori Burns

Lori A. Burns, RN, MSN, has extensive experience in healthcare
education, the Emergency Department, as well as the ambulance industry.
Ms. Burns has been a nurse since 1978 and received her Bachelors of
Science from Viterbo University and a Masters of Science in Nursing
Administration from the University of San Diego. Lori has been involved
in all the administrative aspects of accredited EMT-Paramedic, RN, MD,
and allied health education programs. This includes the coordination of
and evaluation of principal instructors, teaching assistant, field and
hospital preceptors, clinical and internship assignments and curriculum
development. Lori has held the position of Dean of Instruction at Red
Rocks Community College since September 2007 and has been responsible for
the Arvada Campus since that time. Her areas of responsibility include,
Health Careers, Emergency Medical and Public Safety, Outdoor Recreation,
and Physical Education.

Tim Floyd

Captain Tim Floyd, retired, is a full time member of the Red Rocks
Community College faculty. Captain Floyd is in tune with the needs
of emergency service organizations. Tim has 34 years of experience in the
Fire Service. Tim was one of the first, Swedish Hospital trained,
Paramedics in Colorado and was a Captain for 29 years with Littleton Fire
Rescue retiring in 2007.
Captain Floyd holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing, an EMT and has
extensive Incident Command experience and training with the National Fire
Academy in Emmitsburg MD. Captain Floyd is passionate about sharing his
expertise and experience with future Firefighter and Fire Officers.
Captain Floyd is a member of the Society for the Preservation and
Maintenance of Antique Fire Apparatus. He shares ownership of two.
Extremely nice fire engines. Tim’s collection includes a 1950
Seagrave, which served as Denver Fire’s Engine #7 for decades and a
1956 American LaFrance from Delaware.

As the Fire Academy Coordinator, Art Gomez has much to offer students.
Art has an 18-year background in the fire service and has been a
Firefighter, Engineer, Lieutenant, and station Captain. A native of
Colorado, Art grew up in the south Denver area and is particularly
familiar with metro-area firefighting. Art retired from the Castlewood
Fire Department, now known as South Metro, and is now developing the CPAT
(Candidate Physical Ability Test) preparatory course at Red Rocks
Community College. Art’s hobbies include woodworking and playing
the guitar. He’s also been known to give award winning speeches on
many subjects, but mostly humor.

Life is exciting! Our Emergency Services Department is proud to offer
a career as a Park Ranger to interested persons who want the opportunity
to "work in the wild" and challenge life itself as an active and
knowledgeable participant. Having always been a student of the great
outdoors myself, I participate in adventurous pursuits such as skiing,
climbing, snow shoeing, winter ecological research, rafting, mountain
biking, backpacking, and the list goes on & on. I hold a Master of
Arts degree from the University of Northern Colorado in Outdoor/Adventure
Physical Education, and in 1997 I joined the faculty at Red Rocks
Community College. Now, through the Park Ranger and Outdoor Education
programs, I help college students' experience and learn the fine arts and
skills of Outdoor Leadership, Wilderness Survival, Orienteering,
Backpacking, Mountaineering, Winter Wilderness Skills, and much more.

Management. He has years of experience both in adult education and

Robert has been involved in all levels of EMS for 18 years working
with both rural and urban services as a provider and educator. He has a
degree in Emergency Medical Care from Western Carolina University, and is
currently pursuing a Master's of Education specializing in adult
education. In addition to his medical background Robert also has a
background in technical rescue and has served on technical rescue and
USAR teams for several departments. Robert is active in the publication
of EMS journal articles and textbooks. He has contributed to and reviewed
numerous publications for all levels of provider, including serving as
the associated editor for Paramedic Practice Today: Above and Beyond
(Mosby, 2009). Robert is also a popular and frequent speaker at EMS
conferences nationwide.
