WEB DuBois - In the Den

Portrayed by Charles Pace

W. E. B. Dubois was a founding member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People ( NAACP) in New York City in 1909. Educated at Fisk University, Harvard University and the University of Berlin, in Germany, he was also the first African American to receive a Ph.D. from Harvard. As an official member of the U. S. Press Corps, that accompanied President Woodrow Wilson to the Paris Peace Conference in 1919, he interviewed Black soldiers and convened the second Pan African Congress to discuss the fate of German Colonies in east and southwest Africa. In our presentation, we will present Dubois’ ideas on the legacy of the Great War, with a focus on the role of interracial leadership between Black and White Officers in the U. S. Army.
