Fundamentals of Woodworking

This course meets one day a week, as opposed to the "Intro" course which meets two days a week.

The focus of the fundamentals course is basic woodworking. It was designed for students desiring a casual introduction to woodworking. The primary goals of this class are:

  • SAFETY
  • Basic Wood Science
  • Shop Drawings – reading and creating
  • Estimating and Purchasing the wood for your stock
  • Basic Joinery
  • Stationary Tools

The priamary project is the table project. Students are incouraged to change and modify this project. We have seen anything from a childs crib to a Jewish Hoopla. The first project students complete is called the "project demo" a picture of this project is below.
