IV Certification NUR 201

This 10-week course covers venipuncture techniques, blood tubes, procedures for setting up and maintaining intravenous therapy, intravenous catheters, solutions, pumps, and antibiotic therapy. The legal and ethical ramifications will also be explored. Classes meet weekly from 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Certification will only be granted to licensed practical nurses that successfully complete this course. Registered nurses are already certified to perform IV skills and therefore, do not need additional certification. This class may be taken by all other health care providers as a refresher: after successful completion of the course they will receive proof of completion.

Requirements for Acceptance:

  • You must have a current Colorado RN or LPN license to apply. If your RN or LPN license is outside of Colorado or out of the USA, please contact the Colorado Board of Nursing at 303. 894.2430 or www.dora.state.co.us/nursing.

(Click here for more information.)  The information provided here is the best available to us but represents one year’s data only. However, we hope that this information is helpful to our current students and to prospective students as they make their career and educational choices.
