The High School Relations office provides advice and guidance on college courses you can take during high school and after graduation.
As a high school student, there are many great opportunities to start your college education now!
Concurrent Enrollment Programs:
Earn college credit at your high school! The Concurrent Enrollment Program is a great opportunity that empowers high school students to get a jump start on college while earning high school credit that can be applied toward graduation requirements. Through the Concurrent Enrollment Program, high school students can take classes on the college campus or on the high school campus and earn high school and college credit.
Earn College Credit at Red Rocks Community College
Through the Concurrent Enrollment Program, Jefferson County and Denver Public High Schools have a partnership in place with Red Rocks Community College. This great opportunity allows qualified high school teachers to teach college curriculum right in your classroom.
You must meet the academic requirements, complete and submit required paperwork and attend a registration session to register for the college credit. If you earn a C or better in the class, Red Rocks Community College credit will be granted and the tuition will be paid by the school district. Earn College Credit at Red Rocks Community College
You can begin your college career while you are still in high school with Concurrent Enrollment. Complete your first two years of college at Red Rocks, then transfer to a four-year college or university to complete a bachelor's degree. Or, you can begin and finish at Red Rocks with a certificate or an associate's degree.
To get started, talk to your high school counselor about taking a class at Red Rocks and transferring the credit back to your high school. ASCENT
This “5th year” program allows eligible high school seniors to take a full schedule of college course work immediately following their senior year of high school with tuition paid by the school district.
Eligible high school seniors must meet all district graduation requirements, have 12 college credit hours completed, be at college level in Reading, English and Math and be selected for participation by their high school principal.

Underage Students (under 17 years old)
Students younger than 17 may be considered for underage admissions by completing a “Waiver of Admissions requirements” (available in the office of the Vice President for Student Services). Students must also complete the Accuplacer placement test, and may be required to submit a monitored writing sample. An admission decision will be based on a student’s academic history, determination of ability to benefit from college level instruction, and overall educational goals.
Students under the age of 15 will only be considered for admission if they have received a high school diploma.
