Red Rocks Community College

Exploring Colorado

BIG CITY ENTERTAINMENT AND OUTDOOR ADVENTURE

Red Rocks Community College is located in the suburban foothills of Lakewood, Colorado, between the exciting capital city of Denver and the famous Rocky Mountains. Students have the best of both worlds. After a week of studying, they can use weekends to explore the city's night life or retreat to the nearby forests and mountain streams of nature. They are less than one hour from the heart of Ski Country, USA and fifteen minutes from the nightclubs, shopping, and major sports (soccer, baseball, football, basketball, hockey) of downtown Denver. Fine restaurants, museums, and art galleries abound in the local suburbs of Lakewood, Arvada, Wheat Ridge and Golden. Only ten minutes from the campus is the world famous Red Rocks Amphitheatre, where over 50 major rock, pop, and classical music concerts are performed each summer.

  COLORADO'S CLIMATE

In Colorado, the skies are bluer and the stars are brighter at our healthy altitude of one mile (1,600 meters) above sea level. Students enjoy over 300 sunny days per year, and there is just enough precipitation to keep the golf courses green and the ski slopes white. Four seasons bring dramatic changes to the colorful scenery as mountain flowers replace snow, summer grasses cover the foothills surrounding the campus, and autumn leaves arrive each year in brilliant gold and orange.

WHERE THE OLD WEST MEETS THE NEW WEST

The West has changed since the days of Buffalo Bill and Sitting Bull. The Old West still lives in area museums and in events such as rodeos, Indian pow-wows, and the celebrations in dozens of Colorado towns. But Colorado is also an exciting part of the New West. Denver International Airport has established our metropolitan area as a modern crossroads of the U.S. and the world. International corporations located in Colorado have increased employment and educational opportunities. World-class theater companies and art exhibitions are available year 'round in Colorado.
