RRCC Psychology Club Hosts Suicide Prevention Week at Arvada Campus
ARVADA, CO – Red Rocks Community College’s Psychology Club will host a series of suicide prevention lectures and discussions, Feb. 21 and Feb. 23 at the RRCC Arvada campus, 5420 Miller Street.
Monday Feb. 21 will feature a suicide prevention and awareness presentation led by Bob and Jan Burnside, who lost their daughter to suicide. The lecture will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., in Room 7102. Refreshments will be provided.
On Wednesday Feb. 23, Dr. Peggy Norwood, psychology instructor at RRCC Arvada, will host a movie screening and discussion of Night Mother, a 1986 film featuring Sissy Spacek’s portrayal of a suicidal woman. The movie screening will be followed by a discussion on depression and suicide. The movie and discussion will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in Room 7128. Refreshments will be provided.
