Supervisors' FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS about student employment....
- Do I have to submit a new requisition for a student worker(s) EACH semester?
- Often we can pull up an old (inactive) requisition for you, and reactivate it. If we don't have an 'inactive' requisition from you, we'll ask you to submit a new one.
- How do I know how much Work Study $$$ my student worker has left to earn?
- Use the Work Study Payroll Schedule (link) to keep track of your student's earnings.
- What happens when my Work Study student runs out of Work Study $$$?
- If you want to retain your student worker, you must transition the student employment status to Student Hourly. Always send your student to the Student Employment Office to begin this transition process.
- Will my student worker still get paid if he/she turns their timesheet in after the payroll deadline?
- A late timesheet will most likely result in a two-week delay of the worker's pay.
- What do I do if a student worker is NOT working out for me, and I want to let the worker go?
- Contact Human Resources (ext. 6299) if you need to discuss your options or would like assistance in conducting that 'final' conversation with your worker. Always let the Human Resources Office know if a student employee is no longer working for you. Please use the 'Student Termination Form' (link)
- Can my student worker 'supervise' other student workers, sign off on other students' timesheets, etc?
- No. As a rule of thumb, students should not be supervising other student workers, nor should they sign off on other students' timesheets.
- Where can I go for help with my student employment questions and concerns?
- Contact the Human Resources staff (ext. 6299) and we'll be happy to help you out!
