Books Back to Top of Page Books are listed in the library's web catalog by author, title, subject, and other keywords from online tables of content, summaries, etc. The best way to find books on a subject is to do a keyword search using words or phrases representing your subject. Click on the appropriate link below to see keyword searche on copyright. When you are in the web catalog you can change your search at the bottom of any title list or full record page. Keyword search for books on copyright Red Rocks Library general collection books can be checked out to students for three weeks using a student ID card available from Student Life or a Red Rocks Library card available from the library and can be checked out by faculty for the semester.

Print Periodicals Back to Top of Page The Red Rocks Library subscribes to about 300 newspapers, magazines, and journals shelved in the periodicals areas. Titles having current holdings usually have about a year's worth of issues in the periodical stacks. While the library does not subscribe to print periodicals specifically on copyright law, individual articles on this topic appearing in various publications can be found by searching the library's * EBSCO and other online periodical databases. These databases contain hundres of individual articles on various aspects of copyright. The databases are listed under Articles on the Online Services Guide. Copyright, fair use, and infringement tutorials are presented as part of an interactive map displaying "Fair Use Harbor", "Multimedia Wharf," "Cove of Multiple Copies," and other areas. Includes quizzes, bibliography, and TEACH Act updates. Originally created by a group of graduate students at Georgetown University, the site is now sponsored by the University of St. Francis. Copyright & Fair Use - Searchable directory that includes substantive information as well as links to many primary materials on this issue. Sponsored by the Council on Library Resources, FindLaw Internet Legal Resources, and the Stanford University Libraries and Academic Information Resources. A particularly useful section that includes information on use of copyrighted materials in academic coursepacks and use of non-coursepack materials is Academic and Educational Permissions. Fair Use of Copyrighted Materials - A relatively brief guide from the University of Texas. Succintly covers the definition of fair use; how to determine ownership; fair use in the context of coursepacks, distance learning, digitization, and music; and the four factor fair use test. Mediafestival - While aimed primarily at copyright and fair use consideration in the use of media at the K-12 level, the site also contains useful general information that can be easily downloaded - especially a Copyright and Fair Use Guide for Teachers chart meant to be printed out and mounted. The site is maintained by the Director of Educational Services at KOCE-TV in Orange County, California. The TEACH Toolkit: An Online Resource for Understanding Copyright and Distance Education - The Technology, Education, and Copyright Harmonization Act (TEACH Act) "updates copyright law pertaining to transmissions of performances and displays of copyrighted materials ... critical to current higher education distance education efforts, including online courses." Focusing on TEACH Act requirements on the use of copyrighted materials in distance edcuation, the site includes a summary and the text of TEACH plus information on implementation, best practices, and fair use. Web Searching Using Google Back to Top of Page Google Web Search - Indexes over 8 billion web page, including many web pages about copyright and fair use of copyrighted materials in education. Since web pages may vary in quality, focus on educational or government web pages which tend to provide higher quality information by entering .edu or .gov respectively in the domain window in Google's Advanced Search.
