Red Rocks Community College to host Fantasy Revel September 22

Lakewood, CO – Forgotten worlds will come alive at Red Rocks Community College's second annual FANTASY REVEL, Saturday, Sept. 22, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is no admission charge for the event, and it's open to the public.

The Revel is a showcase for the re-enactor organization FAMR (pronounced fa-meer) Fantasy, Ancient, Medieval and Renaissance. Re-enactor groups performing at the event will include Castle Wall Productions (live steel entertainment), Dagohir/Mordor/Roanoak (foam weapons combat), Fjellborg (Vikings), Legio II Cohors (Roman Legion), Red Dragon Entertainment (ancient games), Renaissance Scots, SCA (rattan combat), Soul Movers (belly dancers) and Women on the Edge (live steel combat). Some of the groups encourage audience participation.

The Fantasy Revel isn't just about war games, though. Visitors will enjoy strolling entertainers, art and craft vendors, games, food and fun for the whole family, all in the beautiful foothills setting of the Red Rocks Lakewood campus.

Revelers are encouraged to come to the event in costume. Those needing help coming up with something to wear can contact the RRCC Costume Studio (appointment required; call 303-914-6458), which has hundreds of costumes for rent year-round including medieval and Renaissance outfits.

Red Rocks Community College is located at 13300 W. 6th Ave., Lakewood, just south of Sixth Avenue between the Simms/Union and Indiana exits. The Revel, which is sponsored by the RRCC Office of Student Life, will take place on the college's East Field. For more information, call 303-914-6248 or email Mark.Squire@rrcc.edu.

Persons requesting accommodations for disabilities should contact the Office of Special Services at least 72 hours prior to attending. Please call 303.914.6733.
