Dr. Michele Haney Named Red Rocks Community College President DENVER – Dr. Michele Haney, president of Morgan Community College, has been appointed president of Red Rocks Community College (RRCC) in Lakewood, Colorado by Dr. Nancy McCallin, president of the Colorado Community College System (CCCS). Haney was one of two finalists forwarded to McCallin by the presidential search committee, which was made up of college staff, faculty, a student representative, community members, and CCCS representatives. Haney will assume the presidency at Red Rocks Community College on January 14, 2008. Susan Clough, vice-president of Finance and Administration, will serve as interim chief administrative officer for Morgan Community College beginning January 14, 2008. The vacancy in this position at Red Rocks Community College occurred when current president Cliff Richardson accepted the position of vice-president of finance for the community college system. “I am pleased to have Michele as our new president at Red Rocks Community College. She has a long, distinguished history in the Colorado community college system and we value her experience,” said McCallin. “As she did at Morgan Community College, she will provide strong leadership for the college, and she will make many contributions to the Red Rocks community.” “I have known Michele since she worked at Front Range Community College”, said Richardson. “I closely observed and truly respected her growth from vice president to the presidency at MCC and now I am even more excited that someone with Michele’s leadership qualities can continue to move Red Rocks in a direction that will serve students and keep the warm and welcoming environment that Red Rocks is known for.” “Leaving Morgan Community College and all the communities it touches is difficult. I have made many friends in the area and will miss them, the staff, and the students,” said Haney. “But, not only does this move create a new opportunity for me, it also presents a new opportunity for another individual. Morgan Community College is a wonderful place, and while I am going to miss so many people, I am very excited about moving to Red Rocks and am honored by the trust the community and the presidential search committee have placed in me.” Haney has been with Colorado community colleges since 1992. She served as vice president of instruction and student services at Front Range Community College (FRCC) from 1992 to 1995, as vice president of the Westminster campus of FRCC from 1995 to 2000, and as chief executive officer of the Boulder County campus of FRCC from 2000 to 2003. In August of 2003, Haney took the position as president of Morgan Community College, with the state’s largest service area of 11,500 square miles. During Haney’s time at Morgan Community College, the college has ranked number one in retention and graduation rates within the community college system Prior to coming to Colorado, Haney worked as an associate dean for instruction and as dean of life, health, and physical sciences at Laramie County Community College in Wyoming.
