Red Rocks Community College Enrollment Jumping

LAKEWOOD, CO – Record-setting enrollment increases in the fall and spring semesters have Red Rocks Community College classrooms humming.

Registration for the fall 2007 session was up more than 8 percent over fall of 2006 and spring 2008 registration so far is up almost 10 percent over last spring.

“We’re excited that so many more students have discovered Red Rocks,” said Red Rocks President Michele Haney.  “It’s a trend we expect to continue as word spreads about the quality of our programs and the success of our graduates as they transfer to the four-year colleges and universities or demonstrate the excellent training and job skills for their chosen profession.”

Already, Red Rocks is the first choice for higher education among graduating seniors in Jefferson County. The Red Rocks chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year colleges, has been named one of the top 25 most outstanding in the world, out of 1,400 chapters.

In fall of 2007, more than 600 Red Rocks graduates transferred to four-year colleges and universities, including 65 to   the prestigious Colorado School of Mines, which receives more transfer students from Red Rocks than any other school in the country.

The college welcomes students of all ages and backgrounds, from high school students getting a jump-start with a college course to workers ready for a career change or advancement. Even students who have not completed high school can receive GED training to prepare them to begin a college career.

Students can get started by talking to an academic advisor at 303-914-6255 or visiting the Lakewood or Arvada campuses, or checking out the Red Rocks website at www.rrcc.edu.

“We look forward to welcoming a new group of students in 2008 and together continuing the Red Rocks’ tradition of excellence,” Haney said.
