RRCC Celebrates National Week of the Young Child: EARLY YEARS ARE LEARNING YEARS
LAKEWOOD, CO – Red Rocks Community College is bringing faculty, staff, students, and the community together for children during the Week of the Young Child (April 11-17, 2010). As part of the national Week of the Young Child celebrated across the country, RRCC is honoring young children and all those who make a difference in children’s lives.
“All young children need and deserve high-quality, early learning experiences that will prepare them for life, and RRCC has a great opportunity to do our part to help young children,” said Janiece Kneppe, instructor, Early Childhood Education.
The schedule of events for the RRCC celebration, Monday through Wednesday of next week, is as follows:
April 11 (Grand Foyer)
9 a.m. Opening Ceremonies with official proclamation: Lakewood Mayor – Bob Murphy
9:20–11:30 a.m. Read Me a Story – Story time
Guest Readers: Mayor Murphy, Pat Bolton, Michele Haney, Darlene Marshall, Joseph Sanchez, Jacquie Stanton, Wayne Caruolo, Linda Boettcher
5:30–8 p.m. RRCC/ECE Open House: The Bookies Bookstore, 4315 E. Mississippi Ave., Denver
April 12 (Community Room and Bridge)
11 a.m. Presentation – Sarah Mikelos, ECE student-Physical activities with young children
11:30 a.m. Healthy snacks and nutrition resources on the Bridge
April 13 (Great Hall)
10:30 a.m.–2 p.m. How Do You Play? Interactive centers of play and exploration for all to enjoy
All activities are free and the public is welcome.
