RRCC Announces New Courses/Programs for Lakewood and Arvada Campuses
Still time to register for fall semester

Lakewood, CO—Red Rocks Community College continues to register students for the fall semester, which begins on Monday, August 22.  Below is a sampling of new courses and programs offered at their two campus locations.

RRCC Learning Communities link the content of two courses to provide an innovative way to increase fundamental skills while completing general education requirements.  “Epic Research: Myth Meets the Contemporary World” (ENG 122-04L/HUM 115-04L), offered at the Lakewood campus, blends English Composition and World Mythology to examine the world of Greek and Norse gods, Native American myths, and African trickster tales.  Fiction Writing (ENG 226) and Creative Writing I (ENG 221) are also new this fall at the Lakewood campus.

Integrated Nursing Pathway is a new program offered at the Arvada campus.  This partnership with University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus guides students through an Associate of General Studies degree from Red Rocks, followed by a transfer directly into the CU College of Nursing.  There, students will take six consecutive semesters of nursing courses and graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from CU.

Beginning with fall semester 2016, the health science classes of Medical Office Technology, Medical Assisting, and Phlebotomy – previously offered only in Lakewood – will be offered at the newly expanded Arvada campus.  The new 55,000 sq. ft. building houses state-of-the-art classrooms and labs for all health career studies.

Also new at the Arvada campus are Smart Track degrees, which feature a two-year sequence of reserved classes that are guaranteed to run, regardless of enrollment numbers.  These associate of art and associate of science tracks make it easy for students to get the courses they need to graduate in two years.
