Red Rocks Community College Foundation Awards Professional Development Grants to Health and Science Professors

Lakewood, CO—Red Rocks Community College Foundation is proud to announce this year’s Dr. Agneta Albinsson Professional Development Grants for Health and Science Faculty. Professional Development grants totaling $6,008 were awarded to Christa Dobbs from the Physician Assistant Program, Drs. Gayle Crane and Brandon English with the Chemistry Department, and Dr. Eleanor Camann from Geology.

“Dr. Albinsson and Mr. Wahlstrom are tremendous supporters of the quality education provided at Red Rocks,” said Dr. Michele Haney, President of Red Rocks Community College. “Red Rocks has seen terrific results in the classroom when faculty bring back what they learned from the professional development funded by this visionary program.”

This year’s grantees will use their awards for professional development related to each of their academic disciplines. Christa Dobbs, MPAS, PA-C, will apply her grant toward current doctoral studies. Drs. Crane and English will attend a chemistry conference with adjunct instructors from their program. Dr. Camann will conduct a field geology project along the Utah-Colorado border.

Established in 2013, the purpose of the Dr. Agneta Albinsson Endowment Fund is to support professional development opportunities for individuals teaching in the RRCC science and healthcare programs. The fund was established by Dr. Agneta Albinsson and her husband Mats Wahlstrom to aid RRCC in its ability to attract and retain highly skilled teachers in these important academic areas. Only full-time faculty and adjunct instructors in Health, Science, and Math are eligible to apply. The application period is open during February each year.

Red Rocks Community College Foundation, founded in 1991, is a separate, non-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)3 organization.
