RRCC Inspires Tomorrow’s Leaders with insights from local entrepreneur
Event encourages student engagement and networking

Lakewood – Our destiny is created by how we respond to life’s events. Fear of change will paralyze you; welcoming change will allow you to evolve...

These inspirational words set the tone for RRCC’s 2017 Inspiring Tomorrow’s Leaders, their 5th annual event to provide students the opportunity to learn from successful leaders about developing an entrepreneurial mindset. The networking and educational event featured keynote speaker, Heidi Ganahl, CU Regent and founder of Camp BowWow®, who shared her inspirational comeback story that led to creating a successful national franchise.

Approximately 40 students and 35 local business professionals/RRCC staff attended the event. The morning session featured a hands-on, networking workshop. Students learned everything from the handshake to exchanging business cards to eye contact to striking up conversations.

As part of Inspiring Tomorrow’s Leaders, the college announced the opening of a new Entrepreneur Center, their latest venture to bring experiential/hands-on learning to students. The center, headed by Business Faculty Donna Armelino, will support students and alumni who want to develop a business idea, work through the hurdles of owning an existing business, or fuel an entrepreneurial spirit. Free resources include a visit with a business coach.

"Every day we are called upon to be entrepreneurial whether it is to find opportunities, solve problems, or realize our potential,” said Armelino. “RRCC is building an entrepreneurial mindset on campus that gives students the tools to stand out as entrepreneurs in any business situation."
