RRCC Theatre Presents Bent

Honoring LGBTQ History Month

LAKEWOOD, CO - Red Rocks Community College (RRCC) Theatre Arts and Dance Department in collaboration with the Center for Inclusion and Diversity present the play Bent, by Martin Sherman. This play is directed by David-Matthew Barnes, with choreography by Angela Simmons. Performances will be October 5, 6, and 7 at the Red Rocks Community College Theater.

Bent premiered at the Royal Court Theatre in London in 1979, and at that time there was only a small amount of information available regarding the persecution of homosexuals during the holocaust. The play is now considered by Guardian UK as one of the top ten most influential postwar British plays. The RRCC Theatre Arts and Dance Department and the Center for Inclusion and Diversity collaborated to bring this to play to the RRCC Theatre stage, as it is a fitting tribute for LGBTQ History Month. It begins in 1934 Berlin on the eve of the Nazi incursion and ends with an unlikely love story in a concentration camp.

Bent will be performed October 5, 6, and 7 at 7:00 p.m. at the Red Rocks Community College Theater on the Lakewood campus (west end, lower level). Admission is $10. Tickets may be purchased in advance online at www.tinyurl.com/RRCCTickets. Credit and debit cards are also accepted at the door. This play explores intense adult themes meant for adult audiences.
