What is a Nurse Aide?
A Nurse Aide will work in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, private homes and long term care facilities. This person will assist patients with their activities of daily living which include dressing, feeding, bathing, exercising as well as assisting the nursing personnel. The nurse aide will work under the direction of a registered nurse.
What is the average starting salary?
$8.50 - $12.00 per hour
Is the program accredited and by whom?
Yes, by the Colorado Board of Nursing
Can I work my regular job while going to school?
Yes, but we do not recommend that students work more than 20 hours per week.
When are the clinicals?
Clinical schedules are announced first week of class
How long is the class?
Fall & spring semesters – 5 different classes
some accelerated 4 week and some 8 week
some 15 week (full term)
Summer semester – 2 or 3 classes
4 week accelerated

How many students are accepted into the class?
Full term & accelerated classes accept up to 20

Resident tuition with COF applied

Are there any prerequisites?
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
Make sure your RRCC account reflects one of the following:
Successful completion of ENG 090 or higher (with a C or better)
English ACT of 18 or SAT of 440
Accuplacer sentence skills of 95 or higher
Successful completion of ESL 053 & 093 coursework
Students with a college degree of AA, AS or higher
Pass criminal background check.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
How do I document my RRCC account with prerequisites (Item #2 above)?
Test scores (ACT, SAT, Accuplacer) must be documented through the Assessment Cente

How do I register for class?
Apply to RRCC as a student
Document prerequisites on your student account.
Enroll into open course using The Rock (RRCC Portal) through the RRCC homepage or visit Admissions.
When do I complete the background check?
Complete the background check after enrolling into the course with RRCC.
Where do I complete the background check?
Online at using American Data Bank’s website, www.healthcareex.com.
Please select “Package 1: Criminal Background Check, $59*”.
When do I need to complete the 7 panel drug screen?
The drug screen will be completed in the classroom. The instructor should give you information regarding when during the first week of class.
When do I submit my immunizations and Statement of Health Care Provider?
The first day of class.
Where do I get the Statement of Health Care Provider?
The form can be downloaded from www.rrcc.edu/nurse_aide/Additional_Information.html
When must I have my CPR card?
You must bring it the first day of class.
Is there a certification exam for this program? If so, when do I take it?
Upon successful completion of the Nurse Aide course, students are eligible to take the certification exam through PearsonVue for a cost of $95*. Details will be given out the first day of class.
