2011 Boot Camp for Playwrights Instructors


Level One


Pamela Jamruszka Mencher

For the beginner; perhaps has written a play or two; or none.

Pamela is the founder and Chair of RRCC's Theatre Arts and Dance department; and teaches playwriting, acting, technical theatre and production. Her plays have been produced in Colorado, Montana, Kansas, Illinois, Wisconsin, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho and Alaska. She is also the recipient of numerous awards honoring her teaching and professional theatre careers.

Level Two

Gene Kato
Gene Kato

Gene is the Founding Publications Director of Next Stage Press, a play publishing company that specializes in scripts that have not received NYC productions. Having been a playwright for over 25 years, Gene has had plays produced in several cities across the U.S. His play “18 Holes” was the recipient of the 2007 Best Play award from the Rocky Mountain Theatre Association and received a production at the Aurora Fox in 2008. Having lived in Denver since 2000, Gene is heading back to his hometown of Houston once the boot camp wraps.

Level Three

Edith Weiss
Edith Weiss

For the experienced playwright; perhaps has had several full-length plays performed in full production, published or placed in writing competitions.

An actor, director, and stand-up comic, Edith brings all the skills of these crafts to playwriting. Author of over 20 youth and community theater plays, she is published with Dramatics, Pioneer Drama Service, Eldridge and Brooklyn Publishers. Her adult plays have been produced in theaters and competitions in Boston, Kansas City, Chicago, Lancaster Pa., Albuquerque and Denver. She is head writer and director of Phamaly’s (Physically Handicapped Actors and Musical Artists League) award-winning Vox Phamalia Series.
