Meet the Classified Employee of the Year: Debbie Maya
Debbie was nominated by her colleagues to win this award and here are some of their comments:
“Debbie has served RRCC for over twenty years and currently processes payroll for all regular staff and faculty. She strives for perfection and accuracy, working quietly in the background making sure that everybody’s pay checks are correct. She truly cares about what she does! If you have a question, she is always helpful and friendly.”
“Debbie works hard but will take the time to reminisce with a retiree or help a new student employee understand a timesheet. Her attitude and experience make her indispensable in the RRCC Business Services office.”
Interview with Debbie
What do you enjoy about working at RRCC?
I love the people and the atmosphere. RRCC is a fun place to work!
What did you do before you came here?
I guess you could say I’m an RRCC “lifer!” I started working in Purchasing while I was a student in 1986 (my daughter attended the Child Care Center when she was 3 or 4 years old). And my daughters also chose RRCC for their education. My oldest graduated in May with an AS degree and transferred to Metro to completed her bachelor’s degree. And my 16 year old is currently taking online classes!
What do you like to do when you’re not working?
A Colorado native, I love to camp and fish with my family; I also enjoy time with my two grandchildren.
Bet you didn’t know….
My daughters were born on same day…12 years apart!
