Since OSHA trainers have different styles and techniques they use when teaching the OSHA regulations, we have developed the material in two formats: the Written Version and the Abridged Version.

The Written Version
The Written Version is the OSHA standards typed out in the complete sentence structure. This may be beneficial if you are teaching a 10 or 30 hr class and you do not want to purchase the OSHA standards.  Start the individual power point presentation and then print out the written version notes in the power point note section. As you look at the written version, we have used quotation marks to indicate we have taken the paragraph from the OSHA law word-for-word. If there are no quotation marks, the OSHA standard has been paraphrased. Also, we have added to several slides comments on different ways you may want to choose how to teach the slide or the subject, and comments on OSHA hazard recognition and abatement procedures. At the end of many of the subparts there is a Hazard Recognition section where your students pick out the safety and/or health hazards that they see.

The Abridged Version
The Abridged Version is the OSHA standards with highlights or bullet points for each law or paragraph. This may be the most beneficial for the more experienced instructors, as they can just instruct off the bullet points. Like the written version, there are slides of OSHA violations throughout the body of the presentation, a Hazard Recognition and abatement section, etc.

Mix and match
You may want to use in your training program a mixture of the abridged and the written versions, or you may want to put together a training program on hazard identification just by showing the slides and/or the movies clips. With this package, there are many ways you can mix and match to provide a training program that you are comfortable with and what meets the need of your employees.

Harvey has been at the OSHA Training Institute for over 10 years teaching many of the OSHA construction courses both on campus and off sites.
