General Scholarship Requirements

Scholarships for Current Year High School Graduates

 

Columbine Remembrance

Eligibility:

  • Nomination by high school counselor, essay, and high school transcript

  • Volunteer service or community involvement and brief essay

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale

  • Current year Jefferson County high school graduate

  • Must be enrolled full-time (12 credits) each semester

Covers: Two academic years (fall and spring) $2,000 per semester
Value: $8,000

First Generation Scholarship

Eligibility:

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.25 on a 4.0 scale

  • Nomination by high school counselor or teacher, essay, and transcript

  • First generation college student

  • Jefferson, Gilpin, Clear Creek, Park County, and John F. Kennedy high school graduates

Covers: Tuition only, for up to 12 credit hours for two academic years (fall and spring semesters)

High School Senior Achievement Scholarship

Eligibility:

  • Early graduation completion by December

  • Jefferson, Gilpin, Clear Creek, Park County, and John F. Kennedy high school graduates

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale

Covers: Up to 12 credits of tuition for three semesters
Value: Varies

Other Scholarships for Incoming or Current Red Rocks Students

 

Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Transfer Scholarship

Eligibility:

  • Be a current student at an accredited U.S. community college or two-year institution with sophomore status by December 31, 2014, or a recent graduate (since spring 2010).
  • Plan to enroll full time in a baccalaureate program at an accredited college or university in fall 2015.
  • Have a cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 3.5 or better on a scale of 4.0 (or the equivalent).
  • Demonstrate significant unmet financial need.  JKCF anticipates that a majority of scholarship recipients will be eligible to receive a Pell grant.
  • Have not previously been nominated for the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship.
  • Have not previously attended a four-year institution.

Covers: Each award is intended to cover a significant share of the student’s educational expenses – including tuition, living expenses, books and required fees – for the final two to three years necessary to achieve a bachelor’s degree. Awards vary by individual, based on the cost of tuition as well as other grants or scholarships he or she may receive.
Value: $40,000 per year to approximately 85 deserving community college students transferring to a 4 year college or university.
Deadline: December 2, 2014 (5:00 p.m., Central Time).  Parent forms (if applicable) and recommendation forms are due December 9, 2014 (5:00 p.m., Central Time).

Cyber Security Scholarship Program

CSSP Eligibility Criteria

  1. Seeking an AAS degree in Programming Specialist, Web Development, Network Specialist Program, Cyber Security Specialist, or an AS degree in Computer Science

  2. Have a 3.0 GPA from an accredited institution (secondary or post-secondary) and demonstrate the ability to successfully complete college-level coursework through transcript or test scores (Accuplacer, ACT, or SAT)

  3. If awarded, plan to be a full-time student (at least 12 credit hours/semester)

  4. Be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States

  5. Be eligible to receive federal financial aid and demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).

Covers: Cyber Security Scholarship Program (CSSP) will provide up to 12 scholarships per academic year. 
Value: $3,750 per semester (up to $7,500 per year).

RRCC Foundation Scholarships

Eligibility:

  • Enrolled in six or more credits at RRCC each semester (fall and spring)

  • US or Permanent Resident Only

  • CO Residents who are DACA or ASSET-eligible

  • Some awards have preferences of cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher

  • Additional awards may be available throughout the academic year, check out the Foundation website.

Covers: One or two semesters (fall and spring)
Value: Scholarships range from $1,000 per semester to over $2,500 per semester.

Phi Theta Kappa/Honors Scholarship

Eligibility:

  • Must be a continuing RRCC student

  • Be a member in-good-standing in Phi Theta Kappa at RRCC

  • Enroll in six credits at RRCC each semester (fall and spring)

  • Must enroll in the two credit PTK/Honors special topics course in fall (POS 275, Tuesdays,1:00-2:50 p.m.)

  • Students may receive this scholarship a maximum of two times

Covers: Two semesters (fall and spring) $700 per semester
Value: $1,400
Deadline: Friday, May 30, 2014
