Red Rocks Community College Scholarships

All scholarship awards are subject to change based on funding, student eligibility and other factors.

General Scholarship Requirements

  • Apply for admission to RRCC at www.rrcc.edu/admis/
  • Be a Colorado resident
  • Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen

Scholarships for Current Year High School Graduates


Colorado Merit Scholarship

Eligibility:

  • Apply for Admission to Red Rocks Community College
  • Have graduated from a Colorado high school in the spring of 2014
  • Minimum HS cumulative GPA of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale
  • Be a Colorado resident and eligible for COF (Colorado Opportunity Fund)
  • Be a U.S. citizen/eligible non-citizen
  • Submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is highly recommended

Covers: up to $1000 in tuition and fees per semester (fall/spring), based on credit hours
Value: $1000-full-time, $750-3/4-time, $500-1/2-time (must be at least ½ -time)
Deadline: Monday, June 30, 2014, by 6:00 p.m.


Columbine Remembrance

Eligibility:

  • Nomination by high school counselor, essay, and high school transcript • Volunteer service or community involvement and brief essay
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale • Current year Jefferson County high school graduate
  • Must be enrolled full-time (12 credits) each semester

Covers: Two academic years (fall and spring) $2,000 per semester
Value: $8,000

First Generation Scholarship

Eligibility:

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.25 on a 4.0 scale • Nomination by high school counselor or teacher, essay, and transcript
  • First generation college student • Jefferson, Gilpin, Clear Creek, Park County, and John F. Kennedy high school graduates

Covers: Tuition only, for up to 12 credit hours for two academic years (fall and spring semesters)
Value:  Varies
Deadline: Friday, May 30, 2014

High School Senior Achievement Scholarship

Eligibility:

  • Early graduation completion by December • Jefferson, Gilpin, Clear Creek, Park County, and John F. Kennedy high school graduates
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale

Covers: Up to 12 credits of tuition for three semesters
Value: Varies
Deadline: December 5, 2014

Cyber Security Scholarship Program

CSSP Eligibility Criteria

  1. Seeking an AAS degree in Programming Specialist, Web Development, Network Specialist Program, Cyber Security Specialist, or an AS degree in Computer Science
  2. Have a 3.0 GPA from an accredited institution (secondary or post-secondary) and demonstrate the ability to successfully complete college-level coursework through transcript or test scores (Accuplacer, ACT, or SAT)
  3. If awarded, plan to be a full-time student (at least 12 credit hours/semester)
  4. Be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States
  5. Be eligible to receive federal financial aid and demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).

Covers: Cyber Security Scholarship Program (CSSP) will provide up to 12 scholarships per academic year. 
Value: $3,750 per semester (up to $7,500 per year).

Colorado Merit Scholarship Eligibility:

  • Awarded to RRCC students who have completed a minimum of 12 credits at RRCC
  • Cumulative RRCC GPA of 3.25  
  • Be a Colorado resident and eligible for COF (Colorado Opportunity Fund)
  • Be a U.S. citizen/eligible non-citizen
  • Submission of Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is highly recommended but financial need is not a consideration.  Other financial aid already awarded could be reduced or cancelled if, when combined with this award, the student is overawarded.

Covers: up to $1000 in tuition and fees per semester, based on credit hours
Value: $1000-full-time, $750-3/4-time, $500-1/2-time (must be at least ½ -time)
Deadline: Applications will be reviewed until all funds have been awarded

RRCC Foundation Scholarships

Eligibility:

  • Enrolled in six or more credits at RRCC each semester (fall and spring) • US or Permanent Resident Only
  • Some awards have preferences of cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher • Additional awards may be available throughout the academic year at www.rrcc.edu/foundation

Covers: One or two semesters (fall and spring)
Value: Minimum award $300 per semester

Phi Theta Kappa/Honors Scholarship

Eligibility:

  • Must be a continuing RRCC student • Be a member in-good-standing in Phi Theta Kappa at RRCC • Enroll in six credits at RRCC each semester (fall and spring)
  • Must enroll in the two credit PTK/Honors special topics course in fall (POS 275, Tuesdays,1:00-2:50 p.m.)
  • Students may receive this scholarship a maximum of two times

Covers: Two semesters (fall and spring) $700 per semester
Value: $1,400
Deadline: Friday, May 30, 2014
