When:

  • Spring course meetings every Wednesdays 2-1 through 3-21, 4-6 pm depending on if you register
    for one or both courses. Room RWE0664 reserved through 5-8 if snow is a problem etc.
  • Field Trip scheduled anytime between 5-16 thru 5-31
  • 9 Days and 8 nights for field trip in 2011 (last year)

Where:

  • Spring course meets Thursdays at RRCC main campus RWE0664 (ignore printed schedule-just a Banner system room conflict issue).
  • Field Trip: Dehli (lowlands) and Ladakh (highlands regions)

3 credits: Elective - (Students can enroll in one or both)
Special topics: Religions of S. Asia--- Mabey

3 credits: Core Course - (Students can enroll in one or both)

Cost: Current estimate (as of 10-31-2011) subject to whims of the market!!!

  • Trip 2500 $ (includes air, lodging, land transport, some meals)
  • Tuition 600-1000 $ (depends on financial aid, audit, 1 or 2 courses, etc.)
  • Spending money 200-300 $ (U.S. $ is currently 1:45 against Indian Rupee!)

Payment Plan:
Approx. $2500 trip cost with $500 deposit due November 7th, 2011

  • 1st installment of $2500 trip cost is $1000 due February 1st, 2012
  • 2nd and last installment of $2500 trip cost is $1000 due March 15th, 2012

A valid Passport is required. Apply asap if you do not have one.

  • A Visa for short term travel in India is required. We will collect passports at 1st spring meeting and send en masse for Visa process.

Visit the CDC (center for disease control) for details. We will require basic shots or waiver. Its India expect to get a touch of something! http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/India.aspx

Exotic or plain, vegetarian or not, they have it in India and it's inexpensive.

  • Currently 1 US Dollar=45 Indian Rupees. That means basic meal is 1 US dollar on street or $10 in nice hotel. Same goes for shopping.
  • Bargain and it gets even cheaper! Sari cloth 5$ etc.

Airfare and Land package includes: Round-trip airfare from Denver to Delhi, India; all accommodation and land travel in India; admission and transportation to and from Cultural Sites; guides; meals.
