Welcome to the Secondary Education (K-12) Department of Red Rocks Community College
If you plan to transfer to a four-year college or university to complete a secondary education certification program, meet with the RRCC teacher education faculty advisor to design a course of study. Electives will include RRCC education courses and courses in your area of emphasis.
Our Teacher Education program provides:

Teacher Education classes that transfer to 4 year programs.
- 30 hours of field experience in a K-12 classroom.
- A solid grounding in general education including American History, American Government and Literature.
- A strong foundation in math and science, one of the strengths of RRCC.
Paraprofessional Program
In addition to our Teacher Education program, we have also developed a new program for paraprofessionals K-12 which is designed to meet the requirements of the No Child Left Behind Legislation. Earn Highly Qualified Teacher college credits online.

| The National Science Foundation's Advanced Technological Education Program has partially funded the development of the Teacher Education program at RRCC through a 3-year $300,000 grant. This Denver Metro Teacher Preparation Partnership grant placed an emphasis on the preparation of secondary teachers in the field of mathematics and the sciences. |
