Technical Education
Pathways Project Goals
The Projects overriding goal is to build an enduring partnership
with the local construction industry, high schools, and workforce development
agencies to foster increased interest in construction careers, to define
and improve the educational & training pathways to success in those
careers, and to provide support to those who choose to learn and teach
along those pathways.
The Project has determined a variety of strategies as the means to
achieve this goal:
-
Sponsor
outreach activities to educate counselors, teachers, students and
parents about construction career opportunities.
-
Work
with the local industry to advertise the positive aspects of business.
- Develop
a pool of industry volunteers to support construction related
activities and curriculum in the schools, both high school and community
college.
-
Develop
trades-based academic lesson plans (math, science, communication)
to improve the preparedness of students to make career choices and
to be successful in completing the education & training required
to advance in their chosen field.
- Offer
professional development activities for teachers relating to applied
and integrated academics.
-
Expand
Red Rocks Community College course offerings to attract younger students
to the Construction Technology Program.
-
Research,
advertise, and support existing resources for marketing and educational
materials.
-
Utilize
existing resources as much as possible in all aspects of the project
to avoid duplication of effort and services.
