LAKEWOOD, CO – Red Rocks Community College is accepting applications for RRCC students who will travel to Brazil for a four-week sponsored internship in June 2013. The program, launched in June 2012, creates life-changing opportunities for U.S. students to participate in intensive internships in Brazil, which is now the sixth largest economy in the world.
Red Rocks Community College is one of three U.S. community colleges who participate in the program. Developed in partnership with US-Brazil Connect and Brazilian industry and education, the 12 selected interns will receive scholarships to facilitate conversational English with Brazilian technical students. Students in the Brazilian fellows program will focus on Brazil’s rise and critical issues of sustainability, technology, and innovation, and help to build a movement for mutually-beneficial exchange between community colleges in the U.S. and technical schools in Brazil. U.S. Brazil had 23 students participate in the pilot program last summer; five were from Red Rocks Community College.
The 9-credit internship program consists of three credits at RRCC (Special Topics courses on US-Brazil Connect program and teamwork) and one month in Brazil earning six credits (Special Topics US-Brazil Connect, Cultural Anthropology, and Service Learning). Scholarships are available to cover the tuition for these courses.
Application deadline is January 28, 2013. Visit http://www.rrcc.edu/brazil for details and an application. To learn more about the program and students in Brazil visit www.us-brasil.org.
