Paul Hughes to show his Homage a Louise series in RRCC’s Susan K. Arndt Gallery

Lakewood - Paul Hughes, one time owner and director of Ink Fish Gallery, one of Denver’s premier galleries for many years, will be featured in his first one-man exhibition, Homage a Louise opening January 13 in the Susan K. Arndt Gallery at Red Rocks Community College.

In 1975, Hughes and his wife Nancy opened Ink Fish Gallery which had a very successful run, closing in 1997. Although the Gallery was no longer a part of Hughes’ life, he has never stopped being involved with the arts.

In 2007, after attending a Louise Nevelson show in New York City, Hughes became inspired to start “…using all the objects in my basement, which I had been collecting for years, to make constructions.” This began a whole new direction in his life which continues today. “I have participated in many shows over the years, but this is my first solo exhibition,” said Hughes.

Hughes has works in a number of collections including the collection of Dave and Joan Yust, Ft. Collins, Colorado; Bob Thomas, Lakewood, Colorado; and Deanna Broussard, Dallas, Texas.

An opening reception is scheduled for Thursday, January 16 from 5-8 p.m. and the free exhibition runs through February 21, 2014. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-10:00 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday 7 a.m.-8:00 p.m. The Susan K. Arndt Gallery is located in the west end on the lower level of the Red Rocks Community College campus at 13300 W. 6th Ave. in Lakewood. For more information contact Bob Thomas at or 303-914-6427.
