Pathways to Transfer into Engineering

Begin your Engineering Pathway at RRCC

The Engineering Transfer Program is a preparatory curriculum for students who plan to continue their education at a four-year college or university and complete a degree in one of the professional engineering fields, such as Aerospace, Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Geological, and Mechanical Engineering.

Engineering Transfer courses

These courses are suggested for transfer. Consult the transfer program at the four-year college or university for specific transfer eligibility.

  • CHE 111 General College Chemistry I
  • CHE 112 General College Chemistry II (may or may not be required; check your major)
  • MAT 201 Calculus I
  • MAT 202 Calculus II
  • MAT 204 Calculus III
  • MAT 261 Differential Equations
  • PHY I  Physics: Calculus-based I
  • PHY II  Physics: Calculus-based II

Steps for successful transfer

1.  Start early! Meet with an RRCC advisor to plan your classes before beginning this area of study. Join the Engineering Academy (coming Fall 2019) - more information available here.

2.  Plan your degree. Preview four-year college or university transfer program to learn about the specifics of your transfer degree and choose courses accordingly.

3.  Be attentive to deadlines. Meet with an advisor at your transfer school to learn about application deadlines, rolling admissions, and scholarship opportunities.

4.  Study hard. Take advantage of small class sizes, faculty office hours, tutoring and study help to keep your GPA at 3.0 or higher.

Transfer program with Colorado School of Mines

RRCC has an articulated transfer agreement with Colorado School of Mines where students who complete all of the prescribed RRCC coursework and meet minimum cumulative grade point average and course grades may transfer the coursework upon admission to Colorado School of Mines. This program may take two or more years to complete at RRCC prior to transfer. While at RRCC students may complete EPICS I at Mines, or complete EGT 140 IDEA: Introduction to Design and Engineering Applications at RRCC and transfer in for EPICS I. Note: Students finishing the Engineering Preparatory program may only be two courses from an AS degree at RRCC.

Engineering Pathway Program to University of Colorado - Boulder

Thanks to an integrated partnership, the RRCC to CU-Boulder pathway can be attractive to both community college students, as well as qualified high school students taking concurrent enrollment classes with RRCC. CU-Boulder Engineering and RRCC have designed this pathway to support a more streamlined transition between colleges and give you a detailed view of what your academic plan will look like. Additionally, EGT 140 – IDEA: Introduction to Design and Engineering Applications transfers directly to CU Engineering as Engineering Projects (GEEN 1400).
