Michael Roper

Michael Roper is a third-generation carpenter who in his words, “went to the dark side” when he discovered turning and never looked back. He earned an AAS in Fine Woodworking at Red Rocks and teaches turning in establishments throughout the Denver area. Now a master wood turner, his work has garnered awards from Front Range Woodturners, American Association of Woodturners, Denver County Fair, and his work has been featured in Woodturning Magazine and American Woodturner. The Kirkland Museum in Denver recently acquired his piece, “It Came From The Mountains.” He is constantly pushing himself and his students to grow as woodturners, and his favorite projects are the ones other woodturners told him he couldn’t do.
