Join us for Veterans Day activities next week

LAKEWOOD, CO – Red Rocks Community College (RRCC) will host a Veterans Day celebration at their Lakewood campus, 13300 W. 6th Avenue on Thursday, November 9 from 10:45 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Red Rocks students, faculty, staff, and the entire community are welcome to attend.

At the Lakewood Campus: 

The activities will begin with the landing of a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter (weather permitting) on the South Lawn at 10:45 a.m. The Black Hawk will stay as a static display throughout the day. An Honor Guard and bagpiper will march through the campus to the front entrance at 11:00 a.m. followed by:

11:00 a.m. Opening Ceremony featuring flag raising, National Anthem performed by RRCC staff members Kelly Circle, Kelly Jo Eldredge, Andi Davis, and Nina Ysais. The Executive Director, Louis Olivera, and the Chief of Staff, Michelle Mallin, of the Honor Bell Foundation will be the keynote presenters. 

11:30 a.m.-11:45 a.m. POW/MIA Remembrance Ceremony Performed by the RRCC Veteran Club in the Grand Foyer

11:45 p.m.-12:30 p.m. Community Veterans Day Party: Cake and a RRCC Veteran slide show in the Grand Foyer.

12:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. Film Screening: Almost Sunrise and When War Comes Home

At the Arvada Campus: 

Slideshow (Starting by 11:00) - Welcome Center

11:00 a.m. - Cake cutting in the Welcome Center

12:00 p.m. - Film Screenings in Room 7102: 

  • 12:00 Almost Sunrise
  • 2:00 When War Comes Home
