RRCC Theatre Presents Pride and Prejudice
Jane Austen’s Romantic Comedy Adapted by Jon Jory

LAKEWOOD, CO - Red Rocks Community College (RRCC) Theatre Arts and Dance, presents the romantic comedy Pride and Prejudice, from the novel by Jane Austen, adapted by Jon Jory. This production is directed by David-Matthew Barnes. Pride and Prejudice will be performed July 19, 20, and 21 at 7:00 p.m. at the Red Rocks Community Theater, 13300 W 6th Avenue, in Lakewood. The theater is located at the west end, lower level. Admission is $10. Tickets may be purchased in advance online at www.tinyurl.com/RRCCTickets. Credit and debit cards are also accepted at the door.

There is a reason this beloved novel has been adapted numerous times for film and the stage. Jane Austen’s memorable characters draw audiences today as much as they did in the late 18th century. According to director David-Matthew Barnes, however, the story itself contains so much more to explore. “These multiple layers are what have drawn me to this famous tale, time and time again,” said Barnes. “When I read about Jon Jory's celebrated stage adaptation, I knew immediately I wanted to bring it to the stage at RRCC. This production has provided our students (both cast members and production team members alike) with a greater knowledge of and insight into the literary universe of a classic masterpiece. Through their involvement in the show, discussions have taken place related to life in Regency England, gender roles, marriage, and so much more. To say working on this production has been a joyous experience is an understatement.”

Fans of Jane Austen and those who have never read her novels will enjoy this trip into Regency England.
