“Narcissus” A major project in the Studio Lighting Class (PHO204) is called “Stealing Vermeer.” Working in groups, students must find a painting by Vermeer, Caravaggio (such as this one), or a contemporary and reproduce it photographically. They must duplicate costumes, build sets, and find models to create the image. And of course, the lighting must match that of the original. The final result must be done with a camera; no Photoshop is allowed.

Edie Winograde's photographs have been exhibited nationally in galleries and museums including the International Center of Photography (NY), Artists Space (NY), Robischon Gallery (CO), Front Room Gallery (NY), the Bronx Museum of the Arts, the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, the Aspen Art Museum and the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art (CT). Collections include the Denver Art Museum, Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce, UMB Bank, NYU Medical Center, Children's Hospital of Denver, and the US Embassy in Astana, Kazakhstan. Her work centers on ideas of landscape, and its relationship to the perception of time and the experience of history.
