Red Rocks Community College’s Electrical Program is unique in that it covers a wide range of job opportunities in the electrical field—from residential and commercial wiring to industrial systems and renewable energy technologies. The program features small class sizes, expert faculty, hands-on lab experience, apprenticeship opportunities, and partnerships with industry employers in Colorado. Certain classes, such as electrical code, prepare students for state licensure and renewal. RRCC’s advanced lab facilities provide practical training with up-to-date equipment and tools. With a focus on real-world skills and industry needs, RRCC gives students a well-rounded, career-focused education.
The RRCC Electrical Program prepares students for entry-level employment in the electrical industry through hands-on, practical training in residential, commercial, and industrial wiring; blueprint reading; estimating; safety practices; and application of the National Electrical Code. The program includes a 288-hour course option that meets state requirements toward the journeyman license.
Emphasis is placed on real-world preparation using current industry tools and technologies, including motor controls, programmable controllers, and electrical test equipment. The electrical installation courses follow the latest techniques according to the National Electrical Code, and specialized classes in electrical code and fire alarm systems help prepare students for state licensure and NICET certification examinations. Training includes the use of motor controls, programmable controllers, and modern test equipment, ensuring students gain job-ready, relevant experience.
