Mathematics Department at RRCC

Course Modality Offerings

The Mathematics Department has online, remote, and face to face options.

Our online courses have asynchronous content delivery with fixed due dates. This format is ideal for those juggling many responsibilities and desiring the most flexibility. These courses are charged the online tuition rate.

Our remote courses have synchronous content delivery through Zoom or WebEx. There are times listed on the schedule and during those times, you will be interacting remotely live with your instructor and classmates. This synchronous time will consist of much the same of what is offered in our face to face courses - there will be answering of questions, delivering lectures on new material, working with colleagues on problems, etc. This format is the best option for those that typically prefer face to face classes but need a little more flexibility in location. You learn remotely, but you get the same live interaction you want in your math classes. These courses are charged the on-campus tuition rate (the rate for face to face classes).

Our face to face courses have synchronous content delivery in person on campus. You come to campus in a specific room at specific times listed in the schedule and have an instructor deliver content live and answer questions.

We also have tutoring options available. TutorMe is a remote tutoring option that is available 24 hours per day that you can access through D2L. We also have remote study groups for select classes that you can drop into offered by the tutors of RRCC. See your course D2L shell for information on that. There is also drop in face to face tutoring in the Learning Commons on the Lakewood Campus. There is also one on one tutoring available by appointment only. See the Learning Commons website for details on all options. More details to come in your class as well.

We hope to "see" you in one of our courses!

About the Math Department

The Math Department is dedicated to teaching, learning, and exploring mathematics and its applications.

Our department offers courses leading to an Associate of Science degree in Mathematics or to prepare you for other associates degrees at RRCC. The math department emphasizes basic preparation leading to science-related careers. The Mathematics degree also provides basic preparation for those interested in a career of teaching mathematics. Our core courses transfer to Colorado state colleges and universities.

Mission Statement

The mission of the RRCC math department is to provide an affordable and rigorous mathematical foundation to all students in STEM transfer programs as well as any associates degrees at RRCC. We do this by teaching students to think critically and quantitatively in everyday life, by training students to communicate and apply mathematical concepts effectively, and by maintaining high expectations in each course’s content.
