RRCC ESL

The Red Rocks Community College English as a Second Language Program is changing the ESL landscape by creating innovative solutions to English acquisition. We offer both traditional and cutting-edge class offerings to meet the diverse needs of the Colorado immigrant and refugee communities. We pride ourselves with top quality instruction, academic rigor and accountability, and easy access. Our goal is to reduce as many barriers as possible and to fundamentally change our student’s lives. We believe that the untapped potential with Colorado immigrants is a loss to our communities and we believe that learning English can make a positive change for everyone.

Resident Credit Intensive Program

• 12 credit intensive daytime program- Meets three days a week-Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced levels
• Financial Aid eligible
• One of three CCCS ESL academic college prep programs
• Access to ESL tutoring lab

International Student/ F1 visa Intensive Program

• Integrated into our resident intensive program. F1 students require additional classroom time to meet Federal requirements.
• We accept lower-level English learners. No TOFEL requirement.
• Much lower cost compared to Colorado universities.
• Holistic program includes programming to support all aspects of their lives while studying in USA. Students have opportunities to engage in activities on campus, and in the community.

Noncredit ESL Classes

• Equivalent of three credit hours
• In person and online live remote options
• Meets in evenings or Saturday morning.
• Low cost- Uses Burlington English or Engen online learning platform to support student learning in class and anywhere they have an internet connection.
• Everyone welcome, all Colorado residents, immigrants, refugees, and any immigration status.

Au Pairs/ J1 visa noncredit ESL

• Part of our noncredit program. Meets Federal Government requirements.
• Same classroom seat time as three credit class
• We provide necessary documentation for visa holders.

Community Outreach and service

• ESL Language Lab and NorthStar Digital Literacy
• Self-Paced program with computer programs students can use outside of class to improve their skills.
• ESL Language Lab- Saturday mornings from 9-12 with an ESL instructor for support.
• Everyone welcome and no barriers for students.
• Competency Based
• Students are exposed to other educational programs and career opportunities.

Customized ESL trainings

• We can customize ESL trainings for industry, employers, other academic institutions.
• We can offer classes online, on campus, or an employer’s location.

Pre-Industry and Employer centered ESL programming

• We plan to offer per-industry trainings to help support students fast-tracking into RRCC certificate programs such as CNA, ECE, IT, and Manufacturing. We will use the EnGen ESL online learning platform with English lessons in the context of their career path. Students are learning English in a competency-based program while getting exposure to industry specific vocabulary and working environments.
• These programs can also be customized and EnGen has the ability to offer ESL instruction for hundreds of different careers.
