TRIO Student Support Services provides participants with opportunities for academic development, support with college requirements, and motivation toward successful completion of their educational goals. SSS helps students who are first-generation, income eligible and/or have documented disabilities.
Our Mission
RRCC TRIO Student Support Services breaks down barriers to education and empowers our participants to be successful in navigating the systems of higher education. We do this by providing comprehensive support services, utilizing an intentional, strengths-based approach with our participants and by providing them with tools and support to develop skills in resilience and self-advocacy.

I am studying Criminal Justice
A little bit about yourself:
I like to play video games, watch tv shows, and read all types of books.
Why did you decide to join TRIO?
I heard TRIO was a great program and one of the coordinators helped me out fill out the paperwork and helped me out with information for my program.
Which TRIO program do you support?
I am a math tutor for TRIO SSS STEM.
What program are you studying here at RRCC?
I am a Chemistry major.
A little bit about yourself:
I have a plant addiction and running out of space to put them. I love to cook and embroider all kinds of things and have an unrealistic fear of aliens. I am originally from a small desert town in Southern California, and I've been here in Colorado for three years now. I moved here to continue and take my studies more seriously, and so I sought support from a program like TRIO to help me along.
Why did you decide to join TRIO?
I have an Associate’s in Science now and I couldn't have done it without all the help I get from this program. I hope to continue to inspire and encourage other students to follow suit and achieve their own personal goals.

Business Associates of Applied Science & Business Administration
A little bit about yourself:
I am pursuing entrepreneurship. In my spare time, I enjoy hiking, reading, trying new foods, and spending quality time with family. I am a PTK member and will be transferring to CU Denver’s Finance Program in the fall.
Why did you decide to join TRIO?
TRIO is extremely helpful, opens doors, and inspires me to be my best self. I am in TRIO because the program is working! My academic experience is much more fulfilling. Graduating from college is a reality for the first time and having such amazing and kind support in my corner is what my son and I need. TRIO is an invaluable resource that has cheered me on since the beginning and is family.

I work primarily with the classic program, but you might catch me working in the STEM Center as well.

I am a psychology and communications major.

Outside of school, you can find me doing color guard, hanging with my cats, or working on a craft.
Why did you decide to join TRIO?
I joined TRIO to get help with school and found a community that I love and want to support as they navigate college.

I am an easy-going person, I love to learn, read, watch movies and being physically active.
Why did you decide to join TRIO?
I am a part of TRIO because they help navigate first generation students like me through college.
- Attend 3 meetings per semester during Fall/Spring terms with your SSS Navigator. Meet 1 time with Navigator during the summer term.
- Attend 2 TRIO sponsored group meetings or workshops (Fall/Spring)
- Participate in TRIO SSS Tutoring
Students are required to be:
- accepted and enrolled at Red Rocks Community College, and
- a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident of the United States
Students may be eligible for the TRIO SSS program under one or a combination of the three following eligibility requirements:
- First-generation college students (neither parent has a 4-year college degree)
- Income eligible college students as outlined by the Department of Education criteria
