Meet Robert

"Prior to attending Red Rocks I had an eighth grade education. I had received my GED at Arapahoe Community College in 2009. I had been introduced to Red Rocks Community College through the Gateway program. I was also serving a four year sentence in community corrections at the time I started school.

While at Red Rocks Community College I began to excel extremely fast. I have maintained a 3.8 GPA. I am a member of Phi Theta Kappa. I am the Vice President of the schools chapter of Phi Theta Kappa(Alpha Kappa Sigma) and enjoy it considerably. I was President of the R.O.C.K. Club two years in a row. The R.O.C.K. Club is the Red Rocks Outreach Community Club here on campus and every year we do a giving tree; with the help of student life, Jefferson County, and the students and faculty we have been able to help, on average, 100 under privileged kids have a Christmas each year. I really enjoy giving back to the community whenever I can.

I also have participated in giving presentations to other individuals who are in the same spot that I was in, prior to attending Red Rocks. I completed my sentence at Community Corrections in April of 2012. Over the summer I completed an internship with NASA. I do expect to be involved in more internships with NASA in the future.

I have served on the Student Government for two consecutive years and during that time I had attended two SSAC(State Student Advisory Council) conventions, one of which we did a book drive for K-12 Adams district. I am currently involved in not only our schools chapter of  Phi Theta Kappa but am also attending  a leadership program on the regional level of Colorado Phi Theta Kappa.

Once I graduate, I will be utilizing all the valuable tools I learned at Red Rocks Community College. In the Fall 2013 I will be transferring to Colorado State University to work towards my PhD in Computer Science. "
