RRCC’s Photography and Videography programs emphasize practical, industry-focused training in professional facilities. In the photography programs, students learn using digital SLR or mirrorless cameras.
The college has four multimedia classrooms with up to 24 computer workstations each, plus a dedicated student lab equipped with iMacs that support both Windows and iOS operating systems. Students have access to multimedia software and equipment, including professional video cameras, audio recording gear, a traditional darkroom, a fully functioning photographic studio, color and black-and-white printers, flatbed scanners, video capture stations, pen tablets, and Wacom Cintiqs.
Students have opportunities to participate in professional exhibitions, where they showcase their work, interact with jurors, and network with professional photographers, videographers, and media professionals.
Red Rocks Community College’s Photography and Videography programs offer curricula rooted in both technical and creative development, giving students hands-on experience capturing, producing, and editing images and video across a wide range of professional applications. Students have opportunities to work on real-world projects, complete internships, and present their work in professional exhibitions.
With two AAS degrees (Photography and Videography) and 11 certificates available, RRCC offers several pathways to match students’ interests and goals, whether they wish to advance their skills, begin a career, or transfer credits to a four-year institution. Students can focus on photography, videography, or specialized skills such as camera operation, sound, visual effects and editing, or visual media production and talent. Certificates are designed to stack upon one another—introductory programs can lead into advanced certificates and ultimately into an AAS, giving students flexibility as their aspirations evolve.
