Red Rocks Community College to Offer Bachelor’s Degree Programs in Sonography

With these additions, Red Rocks now offers six bachelor’s degree programs. In addition to the new BAS in Diagnostic Medical Sonography and the BAS in Echocardiography, RRCC has BAS degrees in business administration, cybersecurity, secure software development, and water quality management technology.

A Practical, Applied Bachelor’s Degree Program

The Bachelor of Applied Science is a career-oriented degree built on the Associate of Applied Science degree. The BAS focuses on providing hands-on experiences and incorporating job-related skills into the classroom.

Both sonography BAS programs welcome two separate fall cohorts in fall 2025. The programs are offered at Red Rocks’ Arvada campus, which is home to all health sciences programs. The new BAS programs replace the AAS in Diagnostic Medical Sonography - General Sonography, and the AAS in Diagnostic Medical Sonography - Echocardiography.

To be considered for acceptance into either BAS in Diagnostic Medical Sonography program, students must hold an associate degree (preferably in an allied health discipline) or two years of equivalent credits from a four-year college or university. Students must also complete all prerequisite courses. Learn more about the admission process

“We’re very excited to unveil bachelor’s degrees in diagnostic medical sonography,” says Jennifer Kroetch, dean of academic affairs and the Arvada campus director. “Regionally and around the country, there continues to be high demand for qualified professionals in this area of health care. These additions to our health care programs make it easy and affordable for students to achieve their educational goals right here at Red Rocks.”
