College Prep Zone Tutoring

The College Prep Zone will be open for both in-person and virtual tutoring services, during the upcoming semester. We remain committed to providing high-quality academic support to students and instructors throughout the semester. The safety of our students and employees remains as our highest priority. Accordingly, please review the following information regarding the College Prep Zone and the available tutoring services for the semester:

Tutoring services will be available in four formats:

    1. In-person walk-in tutoring with an RRCC tutor (Lakewood campus only).
      • Students can drop in and meet with a tutor at any time during normal hours of operation (listed below)
      • The College Prep Zone is located in the Learning Commons, just across from the Library
    2. Virtual Zoom tutoring with an RRCC tutor on Fridays.
      • By appointment only
      • Limited appointments on Fridays only
      • Appointments may be scheduled using the Navigate student portal (see instructions below)
    3. Online, 24/7, through TutorMe (Click Here to access those directions)
    4. Weekly ZOOM study groups. Please ask your instructor for course-specific information.

In-Person Walk-in Tutoring

Students can visit the College Prep Zone at any time during normal hours of operation (listed below) to meet with an RRCC tutor--no appointment necessary!

 

Virtual Appointment Tutoring (Fridays only)

Appointment-based tutoring with RRCC tutors will be offered on a very limited basis, during the Fall semester. Appointments can be made through the Navigate student portal:

To make a Navigate appointment:

  1. Login to The Rock (link is external)(link is external) student portal.
  2. Select the “Navigate” icon under “Student Tools”
  3. Select “Appointments” in the left-hand column
  4. Click on “Schedule an Appointment”
  5. Select “Tutoring” in the "Department" drop-down list
  6. Select the "Subject" that you are seeking tutoring assistance for in the "Service" drop-down list
  7. Select an "Appointment day and time" in the "Pick a Date" drop-down list
  8. Students will receive an appointment confirmation as well as a day-of reminder email containing the link to their virtual session.

*If you need to cancel your tutoring appointment for any reason, please do so, in advance, using the Navigate student portal through which you originally scheduled your session. Students with repeated “no-shows” and who fail to provide advance cancellation notice may lose access to virtual tutoring services. Online Tutoring Now Available Through TutorMe

RRCC offers 24/7 online tutoring, through TutorMe. Students can work with a live tutor and receive help with homework assignments and other coursework, in a variety of academic subjects. This service allows students to meet with a qualified tutor using audio/video conferencing, text chat, screen sharing, document upload, and a shared whiteboard space. Students can also review recordings of their sessions, afterwards, in order to assist with their learning process.

Directions to Access TutorMe from D2L

For visual instructions on how to access TutorMe services,  CLICK HERE or simply follow the steps below:

  1. Make sure you are logged into D2L (students can ONLY access TutorMe directly from within their D2L Homepage).
  2. Click on the "Online Tutoring" Link in the D2L Navigation bar (this will open up a new window).
  3. On the TutorMe page, click the Connect with a Tutor button.
  4. Then type the subject that you need help with in the search bar.
  5. A window will pop up allowing you to describe your problem and to upload a file if needed. 
  6. Finally, submit your issue to be matched with a TutorMe tutor.

Our Mission

Our mission in the College Prep Zone is to provide a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment in which students can receive help with improving their basic math and English abilities. CPZ tutors help students to gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence necessary to succeed in their college courses. We support students through a variety of services including tutoring, group study sessions, test preparation, study skills, and much more. At the CPZ, we believe that every student has the intelligence, ability, and desire to be successful. Accordingly, we strive to create a welcoming, respectful, and collaborative learning community, where all levels of learners can grow, succeed, and achieve their goals.

The College Prep Zone is located in the Learning Commons, on the second floor, just across from the library.

The College Prep Zone tutoring is FREE for RRCC students! 

Math Tutoring:

  • Monday: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Thursday: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Friday, Saturday & Sunday: CLOSED

English/CCR Tutoring:

  • Monday: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. & 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday: 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. & 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Thursday: 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Friday, Saturday & Sunday: CLOSED

Who Are the Tutors?

All of our CPZ tutors are trained professionals who are respectful, friendly, and very helpful. They are not only knowledgeable about math and English, but they are passionate about helping students to succeed in their academic coursework. Many of our tutors are current math and English instructors here at RRCC.
