Tutoring

IMPORTANT LEARNING COMMONS INFORMATION:

The Learning Commons will reopen on August 24, 2020, for limited appointment-based tutoring only (please see our Tutoring page for more information). Safety of our students and employees is our highest priority. Accordingly, please review the following information regarding the Learning Commons and tutoring services for the upcoming semester:

  • The Learning Commons hours of operation will be Mondays & Thursdays, from 9am – 5pm
  • Tutoring services will be available:
    • Online through TutorMe (Click Here to access those directions)
    • Online Writing Center (Click Here to access those services)
    • Comm Lab (Click Here to view their services)
    • Appointments are made via Navigate (see below for more information on how this will be done)
  • There will be no computing services available in the Learning Commons. Please visit the RRCC Library for computer access.
  • Study spaces will be closed, temporarily.
  • All students visiting the Learning Commons are required to wear a mask and socially distance, per college policy and the student code of conduct.

RRCC Tutoring department remains committed to supporting students with their coursework and academic pursuits. Tutoring services will be available to RRCC students in multiple formats:

Online Tutoring:

RRCC is now offering 24/7 online tutoring, through TutorMe. Students can work with a live tutor and receive help with homework assignments and other coursework, in a variety of academic subjects. This service allows students to meet with a qualified tutor using audio/video conferencing, text chat, screen sharing, document upload, and a shared whiteboard space. Students can also review recordings of their sessions, afterwards, in order to assist with their learning process. Click Here for instructions to get started.

Online Writing Center:

Writing tutoring is available through our Online Writing Center. Students can submit their papers to be reviewed by a tutor, with a 36-hour response/turnaround from the time of the appointment.  Click Here to get started.

Communications Lab:

ALL FALL 2020 Tutoring will be VIRTUAL USING WEBEX and can be accessed by Clicking Here.

Tutoring by Appointment Only:

Appointment-based tutoring will be offered, in-person, on a very limited basis, during the upcoming semester. Appointments will be available on Mondays and Thursdays only, between 9a.m. and 5p.m., for the following subjects:

  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Computer Sciences
  • Math
  • Physics
  • Appointments are made via Navigate (see below for more information on how this will be done)

To make a Navigate appointment:

  1. Login to The Rock student portal.
  2. Select the “Navigate” icon under “Student Tools”
  3. Select “Appointments” in the left-hand column
  4. Click on “Schedule an Appointment”
  5. Select “Tutoring” in the drop-down list and click “Answer Next Question”
  6. Select the subject that you are seeking tutoring assistance in and follow the prompts to see available appointment times.

* Please note that all students visiting the Learning Commons are required to wear a mask and socially distance, per college policy and the student code of conduct. Students will check in at the main entrance and will be directed to their appointment.
