Perlmutter Secures $7.6 Million for 7th Congressional District in FY22 Government Funding Bill

Washington, D.C. – As the U.S. House passed the Fiscal Year 2022 appropriations package, U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter (CO-07) celebrated the inclusion of all ten of his Community Project Funding (CPF) requests, totaling $7.6 million for Colorado’s 7th Congressional District. The projects include infrastructure improvements, critical services for domestic violence victims, retrofitting a new health clinic for children, and funding to support STEM education and workforce development programs across Jefferson and Adams Counties.

“Each of these projects have the ability to make a real difference in people’s lives and support critical investments in our communities,” said Perlmutter. “I’m glad to see Congress finally pass a longer-term spending bill which invests in workers and our communities, creates jobs, and continues to help build a better America.”

The appropriations package passed by the House completes funding for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2022.  This package includes funding for key programs and agencies important to Colorado’s 7thCongressional District along with important funding to support Ukraine. Perlmutter successfully secured funding for RTD to be repaid, plus interest, for their federal loan to redevelop Denver’s Union Station. In November, a bill sponsored by Perlmutter to authorize the U.S. Department of Transportation to refund the credit risk premiums was included in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, but the provision required additional funding for the repayment. The FY22 funding bill also includes Perlmutter’s Credit Union Governance Modernization Act which updates credit union practices and improves employee and member safety.

• Adams County & 17th Judicial District: $2 million to establish a multidisciplinary Domestic Violence High Risk Team to provide life-saving and comprehensive services to domestic violence victims (Adams County / Broomfield County)

• City of Commerce City: $615,000 to increase railway crossing safety and mitigate disruptions train horns create for residents (Commerce City)

• City of Golden: $2.32 million to support planning for multimodal improvements to a congested section of State Highway 93 and finish upgrades to this regional corridor (Golden)

• City of Thornton: $310,000 to support the purchase of body worn cameras for the City of Thornton Police Department to help them complete the deployment of body worn cameras to all sworn officers (Thornton)

• Kids First Health Care: $800,000 to renovate space for a new pediatric health clinic and administrative office (Commerce City)

• National Institute for Medical Assistant Advancement: $450,000 to support the training of residents of medically underserved communities as medical assistants, providing an accessible entry into a health career in a primary care setting (Denver / across CD7)

• National Lao-Hmong Memorial Foundation: $250,000 to support construction of a national memorial to honor the service and sacrifice of the Lao-Hmong people (Lao, Hmong, Lue, U-Mien, and Thai Dam), America’s loyal allies during the Vietnam War in Laos (Westminster)

• Red Rocks Community College: $300,000 to support the College’s Reach, Reason, Connect and Create Initiative to increase diversity in high-tech skill jobs and preparing the next generation of Colorado’s workforce (Lakewood / Arvada)

• Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport: $270,000 to replace the Airport’s aging airfield lighting regulators and backup generator to improve the safety of airport operations (Jefferson County)

• Savio House: $300,000 to support their Family Residential Program and create the first treatment program in the nation that allows a parent needing addiction treatment, their partner, and their children to receive holistic, full-family care in an innovative residential setting (Lakewood)

Perlmutter submitted Community Project Funding requests to the Appropriations Committee in April 2021. All 10 project requests were included in the initial FY22 House appropriations bills in July 2021. Since then Congress has passed several short-term government funding measures while Congress finished negotiations on the final package. The bill released today is the longer-term appropriations package which funds the government through September 30, 2022.
