Red Rocks Community College Student Receives Scholarship from Phi Theta Kappa

Alyssa Brown Named an Oberndorf Lifeline to Completion Scholar by Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society

LAKEWOOD, CO – (September 22, 2022) - Red Rocks Community College (RRCC) student, Alyssa Brown, has been named an Oberndorf Scholar by Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and has received a $1,000 scholarship. Alyssa is studying Integrative Health Professions at RRCC.

The Oberndorf Lifeline to Completion Scholarship helps Phi Theta Kappa members overcome unanticipated financial barriers preventing the completion of their first college credential, associate degree, or certificate. Oberndorf Lifeline to Completion Scholarships awards up to 15 scholarships annually, with scholars selected each year in the fall and spring. Alyssa is one of eight students selected internationally to receive the award.

“I’ve witnessed programs like PTK continue to emerge from the COVID era with renewed energy,” says Dr. Armando “Mundy” Burciaga, Dean of Students at RRCC. “Celebrations and stories of overcoming obstacles build that hopeful and excited energy by showing students we are returning stronger and that earning their education is still possible!”

The application period for Oberndorf Lifeline to Completion Scholarships is now open. Students are encouraged to apply.
