RRCC Theatre Arts Students Heading to Regionals
Selected by the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival

LAKEWOOD, CO - Red Rocks Community College (RRCC) Theatre Arts and Dance is excited to announce that a number of their students have been chosen to participate in the regional Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival to be held at the University of Oregon in Eugene in February. The students were selected by festival respondents based on their performances and technical work connected to the fall production of The House of Yes, written by Wendy MacLeod and directed by David-Matthew Barnes.

In recognition of their outstanding performances, students Kaia Parnell, Levi Zavorotny, and Madison Murphy have been selected for the regional Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship Auditions, which will include a multiple round performance competition. In recognition of her outstanding technical design, student Jasmine Romero has been selected to present her lighting design to a panel of industry experts at the regional festival. In addition, staff costume designer Regina Ayala was recognized with a certificate of merit for her original costume designs.

Started in 1969 by Roger L. Stevens, the Kennedy Center's founding chairman, the Kennedy Center American College Theater (KCACTF) is a national theater program involving 18,000 students from colleges and universities nationwide which has served as a catalyst in improving the quality of college theater in the United States. The KCACTF has grown into a network of more than 600 academic institutions throughout the country, where theater departments and student artists showcase their work and receive outside assessment by KCACTF respondents.

RRCC is part of Region 7 of KCACTF, which includes Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and part of California and Nevada. The regional festival will take place February 18 – 22, 2019.
