Cyber Security Scholarship Program

Red Rocks Community College Cyber Security Scholarship Program (CSSP) will award up to $3,750 for spring 2019, to approximately 25 students. Deadline to apply is November 26, 2018

Scholars will: 

  • Develop an approved academic plan with a CIS faculty advisor
  • Participate in Financial Aid 101
  • Build a portfolio/complete capstone project or internship
  • Participate in at least 80% of weekly Cyber Security Scholars’ Hour Meetings
  • Discuss industry opportunities and trends
  • Be a full time student who successfully completes at least 12 credits in spring while maintaining a 3.0 or higher GPA.
  • Be eligible to receive federal financial aid and demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA.
  • If you fail to meet any of these requirements, the scholarship will be reclaimed and you will be responsible for all associated costs for classes. 

Application Components:

  • Seeking an AAS degree in Programming Specialist, Web Development, Network Specialist, Cyber Security Specialist, or an AS degree in Computer Science
  • Have a 3.0 GPA from an accredited secondary or post-secondary institution and demonstrate the ability to successfully complete college-level coursework through transcript or test scores on Accuplacer, ACT, or SAT
  • Must be a full time student who successfully completes at least 12 credits per semester while maintaining a 3.0 or higher GPA.
  • Be a citizen, permanent resident of the United States, or eligible non-citizen.
  • Be eligible to receive federal financial aid and demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA.
  • Submit an essay or letter of interest
  • Submit two letters of recommendation

The CSSP Advisory Screening Committee will evaluate applicants based on financial need, high school GPA (3.0), ACT scores (18—English; 17—Reading Comprehension; 23—Math), SAT scores (Verbal 440, Math 570) or Accuplacer scores (95—English; 70—Reading Comprehension; 85—Math), equivalent academic placement test scores, an essay or letter of interest detailing why you deserve this scholarship and how your study within the cyber security field will contribute to your immediate or long-range career plans, and two (2) letters of recommendation from STEM faculty members or industry professionals. Current RRCC students are required to submit college transcripts, as well.
